    the only thing I can assume is that your build of 1.3.1 is faulty in some way.
    I am using 1.3.1 for development and I've just tested your AFM. It went
    swiftly. No error messages.

    exact output of java -version; here is what I have:

    java version "1.3.1-p7"
    Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.3.1-p7-dvd-021008-07:58)
    Classic VM (build 1.3.1-p7-dvd-021008-07:58, green threads, OpenJIT)
